Mindful Movement: Hip Hop & Lite Feet Theory
Body, Culture, and Cypher
This 3-hour open-level workshop is a deep dive into the science and spirit of hip hop and lite feet dance. Blending freestyle foundations with conditioning-based training, this intensive invites dancers to explore both movement and meaning — connecting physical awareness with cultural understanding.
We'll break down tools for body maintenance, rhythm training, and movement isolation techniques — including chrysolation, a lite-feet-specific method curated by Chrybaby Cozie. Chrysolation builds awareness around how one holds the body, enhancing coordination and tone wop amplification through both mechanics and musicality. This practice is explored through three key techniques: stitch, stack, and variation(s).
From social grooves to battle readiness, this space is built to elevate your freestyle, strengthen your stamina, and expand your knowledge of where these dances come from and how they live today.
Midway through the session, we’ll pause for a special panel discussion featuring NutellaK and Chrybaby Cozie — two movement artists and cultural leaders rooted in NYC street dance. This conversation will invite students to reflect, ask questions, and deepen their understanding of hip hop and lite feet’s lineage, innovation, and community impact.
Whether you're refining your flow or stepping into the cypher for the first time, come ready to sweat, study, and step into your style.
